If you really want to give your garden a makeover then you may want to consider hiring a gardener or a landscaper. They will be able to advise you on what different sorts of plants and shrubs you have in your garden and cut them back the correct way to encourage new growth.
If you have a blank canvas to work with or want the whole garden improving then you may ask them to design a new garden area for you. They can often build areas for decking where you can socialise and then turfed areas and flower beds. You can discuss with them how low maintenance you want it to be or you may decide to hire them to come back once a week or every few weeks to keep on top of it for you.
Having your garden made over can make a huge difference to the way your home looks. Some people even have their garden made over before they come to sell their house to give it that curb appeal and to ensure it looks good on the photos. Although this may not result in a higher selling price it may make it sell quicker.
