Growing herbs can be very satisfying and also very useful if you are a keen chef. It’s always nice to have plenty of herbs available for you to use straight away and they will make your home smell lovely and fragrant.
You can easily grow herbs like basil, lemongrass, chives, mint, parsley and oregano. Keep them in containers in a sunny spot, usually on a windowsill. You will be able to cut fresh herbs whenever you want to use them in your own cooking.
Different herbs have different needs in terms of care. Most are very easy to look after though, especially lemongrass. Take note of the care instructions when you buy them and make sure you give them as much water as they need.
You can buy herb plants like basil very easily in a supermarket. However, they are generally in much better condition when you buy them from a garden centre.
