A 4-Step Process In Improving Your Soil

If you would like to improve the results of your planting, then your soil will need to be in good condition. You can improve your soil with compost. Check our 4-step process below.

  1. Break up the lumps in your soil and dig thoroughly. If the soil in your garden has never been dug before, then use a spade. If it has been dug before, then use a garden fork.
  2. Start to add your compost, with a minimum of 5cm layering over the surface before you fork it in.
  3. Dig the soil deep and mix the compost in thoroughly.
  4. To firm up the soil, tread the area with your heels. If you get lumps of soil, then break with a garden fork. Once done, mix in fertiliser with a rake.
